Itineraries

Morocco Itinerary: 7 Days

One week in Morocco: Marrakech, the High Atlas, Aït Ben Haddou and a night in the Sahara.

A week is enough to experience Morocco's two great icons — Marrakech and the Sahara — without rushing, if you stay focused on the south.

Day by day

  1. Day 1 — Arrive in Marrakech. Settle into your riad; evening at Jemaa el-Fna.
  2. Day 2 — Marrakech. Guided medina tour, Bahia Palace, souks.
  3. Day 3 — Over the Atlas. Tizi n'Tichka pass, Aït Ben Haddou, night in the Dades Valley or Ouarzazate area.
  4. Day 4 — To the dunes. Todra Gorge, then Merzouga. Camel ride at sunset, night in a desert camp.
  5. Day 5 — Desert to Dades. Sunrise on the dunes, return west.
  6. Day 6 — Back to Marrakech. Afternoon hammam.
  7. Day 7 — Departure, or a morning at Jardin Majorelle first.

Alternative: one week without the long drive

Prefer less time on the road? Combine Marrakech, the Agafay Desert, the Atlas Mountains and Essaouira instead.
