Overview
Discover Merzouga
Merzouga is the village at the foot of Erg Chebbi, a sea of golden dunes on the edge of the Sahara. Some dunes rise well over 100 meters, glowing orange and pink at sunrise and sunset. For many travelers, a night here is the emotional high point of their Morocco trip.
The classic experience is a camel ride into the dunes, dinner under the stars and a night in a desert camp — from simple nomad-style tents to luxury camps with private bathrooms.

FAQ
Merzouga: your questions
What is the best time to visit Merzouga?
Spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) offer the most comfortable temperatures. Winter days are pleasant but nights are cold; summer is very hot.
Merzouga or Agafay?
Agafay is a stony desert near Marrakech — beautiful and convenient, but without sand dunes. Merzouga offers the true Sahara dune experience but requires at least 3 days round trip. See our guide comparing the two.
